Pennsylvania WIC, Income Guidelines page. Pennsylvania WIC says only the annual figure is used when it calculates income; the monthly column is approximate. Add one person for each unborn baby.
How Pennsylvania counts income
The state table has two columns: an annual amount and an approximate monthly amount. Pennsylvania WIC says that only the annual figure is used when staff calculate your income, so the monthly number is a guide, not the test.
- Count gross income, before taxes, for everyone in the household.
- Add one person for each unborn baby when someone in the household is pregnant.
- Bring proof of all income sources: pay stubs for the last 30 days, an unemployment letter, child support, or a tax return if you are self-employed.
Medicaid, SNAP or TANF
If someone in your family receives Medical Assistance (Medicaid), SNAP or TANF, bring the ACCESS card or the award letter: WIC programs nationwide accept participation in these programs as proof of income eligibility. Your clinic confirms it at the certification visit.
Income is only one rule
You must also live in Pennsylvania, be pregnant, breastfeeding (up to one year after birth), recently pregnant (up to six months) or have a child under 5, and have a medical or nutritional risk. Pennsylvania WIC lists anemia, underweight, overweight, a premature baby and pregnancy complications as examples. The risk is checked at the appointment, free of charge.
